For the religious ulema of the Islamic world in Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, the ideology known as Pan Arabism, or "Nasserism" (Named after Egyptian President Abdel Gamel Nasser) was a direct threat to it's existence and a liability for the Islamic world as a whole.
